Pre-Construction Termite Treatments Are Available In Houston, TX!

Welcome back to CPL pest controls podcast channel. And today we are talking about pre construction termite treatments. So as an introduction, as we’ve discussed in other videos, Houston, the Rio Grande Valley, all of the Texas coast coastal regions suffer from high termite populations. And so in our areas, whether you be in Houston, or Montgomery county or Galveston or anywhere in the Rio Grande Valley, we experienced three three different types of termite, we have Formosan, subterranean, and drywood termites. For most and subterranean termites both originate in the soil and dry wood termites originate in other places, and then burrow their way into the wood. Long story short, they do not originate in the soil. So what we’re going to talk about today really takes care of subterranean and Formosan termites and prevents them from entering your home. And if you’re like most homeowners, you want to protect your home from termites, and you want to protect them from other wood destroying insects. And so that is what we’re going to be talking about today. And so like we said earlier, subterranean and Formosan termites originate in the soil, which means they travel from one place to the other using the soil as a vehicle to get from one destination of a food source to another, which oftentimes our homes or our businesses stand in the way of these routes and often serve as a food source. Which begs the question, What can we do to protect our homes, our businesses from termites in the future, there are two different types of treatments that we’re going to discuss today that will prevent your home from being consumed by termites. If you take advantage of one of these two, if not both of these types of treatments, the first, the first treatment that we’ll talk about is something that is called a pre treat soil treatment. And a pretreat soil treatment is essentially where we are spraying the soil of the home before the foundation is laid. In essence, what this is doing is placing a chemical barrier between the soil and the slab. Over time your slab will settle especially here in the Houston area of slabs like to settle just due to the nature of the soil in which we sit on. And as that slab begins to settle, cracks begin to develop in that slab and a termite needs nothing bigger than the width of a dime to be able to squeeze through and penetrate a area. And so as your slab settles and gets small feather like cracks in it that provides an avenue for termites to climb from the soil to your home, your home 95% of homes are built using wood in So, you see the problem that is presented you have a food source at sitting on top of the concrete, you have a termite that lives underneath the concrete and they are trying to get to the food source. And so, if the slab is broken, then that allows for them to wedge their way through. So, what does the chemical barrier do so, that chemical barrier what it does is it layers itself before the slab is poured in so that it bonds with the soil the molecules bond with the soil and and you know stick to the soil so that way termites cannot penetrate through that barrier if they do it, you know uses that transfer effect to reach back to the rest of the colony killing that colony before they ever break through the concrete and to your home. This is one of if not the most effective way at preventing termites from entering your home. Now of course this type of a treatment is only available for homes that sit on a slab but there is a another type of treatment that you can use in a pre construction setting. And that is where we are dousing if you will the entire home. Remember 95% of homes are built out of wood.

Which means you know in between our walls we have two by sixes two by fours that brace up our house all the way up to the roof. And what we do is we douse all of the walls In a product known as Bora care, or care is made out of boric acid boric acid bonds to the wood. And it is a more natural way of eliminating and preventing termites from getting into your home. So as they begin to try biting the water by biting into the wood, they buy and get themselves into that board chemical that is penetrated the wood, and they die. So it is a very effective way of preventing termites from entering your home. So we have two types of pre construction, termite termite treatments, a pre treat soil treatment. And then this other treatment where we are spraying the entire house before the sheetrock goes up, allowing ourselves to totally spray the entire house with border care that boric acid eliminating that problem in the future. So if you are interested in one of these two treatments, we highly, highly recommend them for new construction builds.
